At our K-2 assembly on a Thursday afternoon, Barney sits and watches for the best class. At the end of assembly, he chooses the best class and they get to look after him for the week. Last week we were lucky enough to win Barney. He chose us!

First, we ran lots of running races and some of us even got ribbons. Next, we had a cake stall and got to eat lots of delicious cakes. After that, we had lots of activities and some of the parents stayed to play with us. Later on we had lunch and in the afternoon we all got to relax in our classrooms.

We all had a great day at the athletics carnival and can’t wait for next year!

During this time we get to eat a piece of fruit to increase our energy levels, have a drink to hydrate ourselves and a toilet break to get us through until recess. After we all shared some information (as we know a lot about nutrition as well) we went outside and had our own personal training session. Jo was so cool and she gave us all our own bottle of water to help us stay hydrated.

As a reward for our good behaviour, we got to make some special biscuits. We learnt about the procedure text type whilst we were having a great time. Here is the procedure so that you can make the biscuits yourself.

Smiley Face Biscuits

What you need:

  • icing sugar
  • oval biscuits
  • food colouring
  • plastic knives
  • plastic bowls
  • chocolate buttons
  • snakes

What you need to do:

  1. Mix icing sugar with some water and food dye to make the icing.
  2. Spread the icing on top of the flat side of the biscuit.
  3. Put two chocolate buttons as eyes and a snake for a mouth.
  4. Eat the biscuit. Delicious!!!

We were so lucky to have scientists from the CSIRO come to teach us about some basic concepts as an introduction to the big, exciting world of science! We learnt about many ideas during this time. We learnt about circuits, magnetism, balance and lots of other thing.

We love playing with Play-Doh. It helps us to build the muscles in our hands so that we can try harder with our writing. We love to make animals, 3D shapes and community helpers. We also love to make cakes with lots of different decorations. Here is a photo of all the different colours that we have.
